The Indian team put in a great performance in a rain-interrupted match, defeating defending champions England by 68 runs to secure a place in the ICC T20 World Cup final for the third time. Now, the team will face South Africa in the title clash on Saturday. India won this tournament in 2007 and now has the opportunity to end their title drought.

After a brilliant innings from captain Rohit Sharma, followed by powerful bowling from Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, India defeated England by 68 runs in the semi-final to secure a place in the T20 World Cup final. India will now face South Africa in the title clash on Saturday. The Indian team has reached the finals of this tournament after a long gap of 10 years.

India previously reached the T20 World Cup final in 2014. This is the third time that the Indian team will play the T20 World Cup title match. Earlier, the team reached the final under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2007 and 2014. India won in 2007 but missed out on the title in 2014.

India scored 171 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs, with Rohit Sharma’s 57 runs off 39 balls and Suryakumar Yadav’s 47 runs. Chasing the target, the England team was bowled out for 103 runs in 16.4 overs. For India, wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets for 19 runs, while Axar Patel took three wickets for 23 runs.

Rohit Sharma said in the post-match presentation that he understands the value of a player like Virat Kohli when asked about his form in the tournament. He further stated that Kohli is probably saving the big knock for the T20 World Cup 2024 final. Unfortunately, Virat Kohli failed to play a big inning in the ongoing tournament, and the Indian Cricket Team fans want him to help India win the T20 World Cup final.

Rohit Sharma also said that the team is quite composed and will look to maintain clarity of thoughts during the final.

Axar was awarded the Player of the Match for his performance. Harry Brook was the highest scorer in England, scoring 25 runs. In this way, India continued their winning campaign in the tournament. Now, in the finals, they will face a team that has reached the World Cup title match for the first time and is also unbeaten, just like them.
